Like most things in life, if you are not having fun you have to ask yourself, “Why do it?” At Hoskins Interior Design we are always looking for opportunities to add a bit of surprise to our design schemes. Fun items that compliment the intended look but push the envelope of the space offer the opportunity to include another aspect of our clients’ personalities into their home. For a recent project we brought an eclectic transitional look to a living room and adjacent dining room. The soothing tone on tone colors on the furniture and walls led us to focus on texture and structure to bring visual interest into the space. This small side table is the perfect example of this tactic. The lovely lines of the metal coupled with the open design and the glass top allowed the piece to add a new shape to the space without being overwhelming. Topping the piece with a curvaceous glass vase with a simple, flowing piece of greenery completed the look. How do you add bits of surprise to your space? We’d love to hear about it.
