Do you prefer a clean and simple, classic design vibe but don’t want to sacrifice that cozy feeling? Today I’m sharing 3 tips for creating warm and inviting spaces that do not require clutter!

1. Crate Warmth with Cozy Textures

Soft window treatments like fabric drapery panels or valances can add softness and warmth to a room year-round. Kitchens and dining rooms are often mainly hard surfaces and can feel cold. Soft fabric drapery can be game-changers for these areas!

If you would like to add warmth to a living area during the colder months, consider switching existing throw pillow covers out for cozier fabrics such as velvet or faux fur for the winter. Add a chunky, textural throw to your sofa to chase out the chill!

2. Warm, Earthy Tones

Color undertones can really affect the perception of warmth or coolness in a space. When selecting a color scheme, choose colors with warm earthy undertones. Even white can feel warm or cool depending on the undertones and value of the shade.

Consider swapping out pillow covers, throws, and accessories with warmer colors during the winter months to add texture!

3. Accessorize Strategically

Accessorizing with small decorative items and lamps can feel cluttered without adding to the coziness of a room. Consider accessorizing tables and bookshelves with fewer, larger pieces instead. A well-placed, oversized lamp or decorative element can add impact and warmth, whereas smaller items get lost without grounding a space.

Utilizing texture, color, and scale are simple tricks to making your home feel warm and welcoming. You can often make the change with simple seasonal swaps.
